Come join FALPS and the Barkhamsted Historical Society and Central Connecticut State University archaeology professor Ken Feder for a short hike to the Soapstone Quarry on the Walt Landgraf trail, then a book signing at Squire's Tavern at 100 East River Road, Barkhamsted, this Saturday, November 19th at 12 noon.
Ken has just finished a booklet on the Soapstone Quarry in Peoples State Forest and copies will be available for purchase and Ken will be there to sign them.
Prior to the book-signing (refreshments will be served as well), Ken will lead a short hike into the quarry, which is a newly designated Archaelogical Preserve. Native Americans used this quarry in our forest to make soapstone bowls.
For the hike, meet at 10 a.m. on Park Road at the Elliott Bronson Trailhead (at the intersection of 181 and Park).
Following the hike please join us at the Tavern at noon for refreshments and book signing.
If you do not want to join us in the hike, come on over to the Tavern at noon to meet Ken and perhaps purchase a booklet.
